ENTROPION

Entropion is an inward turning of the upper or lower eyelid margin towards the globe of the eye.  This abnormal eyelid position can cause the lashes to rub on the very sensitive front surface of the eye causing excessive tearing and redness of the eye.
Artificial lubricating agents may be helpful with this condition but the definitive treatment usually requires surgery if irritation to the surface of the eye persists.  Surgery is typically delayed until it is evident that the eyelid turning will not resolve spontaneously.
